Skill Level: Intermediate
Stitches used: k, p, yo, m1, k2tog, k3tog, 2/1 RPC, 2/1 LPC, 2/2 RPC, 2/2 LPC, 3/3 LC, Nupp.
The pattern comes with written instructions, pictures, a chart and a diagram for motif placement.
Technique: Square motifs are worked in the round from the centre out. Also, you have to know basic crochet stitches for joining all motifs in one piece.
Materials Required
Aran (worsted) weight yarn, or any other you love:
• CC1 (blue) – 480g.
• CC2 (orange) – 360g.
• CC3 (light blue) – 360g.
• CC4 (grey) – 240g.
• CC5 (dark blue for joining) – 90g.
NB If you substitute another yarn, please check the gauge (tension) and yardage and adjust accordingly.
• 5 DPNs (straight needles) – 5.00 mm (US 8) x 25 cm.
• Circular needle 5.00 mm (US 8) x 50 cm.
• 4 Markers.
• 1 Tapestry needle.
• 1 Crochet Hook – 3.50 mm (US E/4) for joining motifs.
Gauge (tension): Using 5.00 mm (US 8) needles, work a tension square over stockinette st measuring 12 x 12cm. After blocking the gauge measures 15 sts and 28 rows = 10 cm (4”). NOTE: Gauge is not crucial for this pattern.
Measurements after blocking: (Actual size is dependent on your gauge).
Afghan: 130 cm x 195 cm / 51 x 77 ins.
Square: Approx. 32 1⁄2 x 32 1⁄2 cm / 12 3⁄4 x 12 3⁄4 ins.
