Flowery Afghan Crochet

Flowery Afghan. PDF Knitting pattern.

Learning how to knit an afghan can often seem an impossible task, but it is not as bad as it seems. This Flowery Afghan pattern breaks the knitting process into separate motifs, which also makes this a great pattern for knitting on the go.
This afghan is sure to be a great addition to your home. You can drape it over your couch or bed to compliment the colors in the room.

Mix and match your loved colors, and choose a different yarn to create a beautiful color tone that goes with your decor! I used my stash to create this afghan throw. If you want yours bigger- just make more octagons and squares to create a bedspread.

Skill Level: Intermediate. Stitches used: k; p; yo; k2tog; ktbl; nupp; sl1, k2tog, psso.

The pattern comes with written instructions, a chart, and a diagram for motif placement.
Technique: Octagon and square motifs are worked in the round from the center out. Also, you have to know basic crochet stitches for joining all motifs in one piece.

Materials Required (Aran yarn)

• MC (all shades of blue) – 700g.
• CC (lime green) – 200g.
• CC1 (black) – 25g.
•  CC2 (pink) – 25g.
• CC3 (yellow) – 25g.
• CC4 (brown for joining) – 100g.

NB If you substitute another yarn, please check the gauge (tension) and yardage and adjust accordingly.

• 5 DPN (straight needles) – 5.00 mm (US 8) x 25 cm.
• Circular needle 5.00 mm (US 8) x 50 cm.
• 8 Markers.
• 1 Tapestry needle.
•  1 Crochet Hook – 3.50 mm (US E/4) for joining motifs.

Gauge (tension): 14 sts and 23 rows = 10 cm (4”) measured over stockinette st, blanket being blocked, using a 5.00 mm (US 8) needle.

Note: Gauge is not crucial for this pattern.

Measurements after blocking
Octagon: 35 x 35 cm / 13 ¾ x 13 ¾ ins.
Square: 14 x 14 cm / 5 ½ x 5 ½ ins.
Total size Afghan (also see section 7): 133 cm x 182 cm / 52 ½ x 71 ½ ins.
